ROPS Now Standard on John Deere Z-Trak
John Deere has equipped its Z-Trak range (717A, 727A, 737, 757 Mid, 797 Max, & 997 Diesel) with standard 2-post folding Rollover Protection System (ROPS) and retractable seat belt. The folding ROPS will enhance operator safety while providing ample clearance when loading and unloading enclosed trailers.
Adjustment is easy and can be made from the operator's seat so the ROPS structure can easily be returned to an upright and locked position with seatbelt attached when low clearance is not required.
The move will better allow Dealers and Operators to fulfil their common-law “duty of care” and OHS responsibilities. Other Z-Trak refinements include: a larger heavy-duty adjustable Ogura clutch (737, 757 Mid & 797 Max-Frame).
New 717A, 727A, 737 and 757 Mid Z-Trak Mowers now come with standard dual-element, canister, dry replaceable heavy-duty air-cleaner with secondary safety element. This filtration system pulls cleaner air from above the engine, in turn filtering out the dust that can damage an engine over time.
All John Deere Z-Traks feature the exclusive “7-Iron” Mower Deck, the full floating deck provides a powerful vacuuming action to lift grass before cutting, allowing the Z-Traks to handle more material and finish with a professional, groomed appearance. New Stihl Back-Pack Blower Range
New Stihl Back-Pack Blower Range
Until now most commercial users have stuck with hand-held blowers because of the presumed awkwardness and discomfort of backpack systems, plus, of course, the significant price differential between the two types of blowers. Stihl, however, believes that its new range of backpack units will change that. The three Blowers are powered by a 64.8cc Stihl “4-Mix” engine that combines the benefits of 4- and 2-stroke technology (50:1 mix) for fast acceleration, added power, impressive torque and increased fuel efficiency. The range has a variety of price points and power ranges.
The entry point unit is the BR550. It offers an excellent opportunity for hand-held blower users to upgrade to a new backpack for only about $800. BR550 weighs only 9.7kg and delivers air speeds of 320km/h at a volume of 900m3/h at the nozzle.
For operators like Councils and Government contractors needing to minimise noise emissions, the BR500 nozzle incorporates an effective muffler that reduces noise levels to only 65dB(A) without unduly sacrificing performance. It is slightly more expensive ($850), slightly heavier (9.9kg) and generates 292km/h with a volume of 810m3/h at the nozzle.
With a RRP of about $900 the BR600 is most powerful unit in the new range. At 9.5kg it has one of the best blowing-power-to-weight ratios in the industry and is Stihl’s most powerful blower ever producing air speeds of 324km/h at a volume of 1210m3/h at the nozzle.
Stihl’s new quick-mount comfort harness takes less than 15-seconds to put on removing most of the difficulties and inconvenience surrounding repeatedly putting on and removing a back-pack unit through the course of a working day. Any minimal time loss is more than made up with the doubling of productivity generated by the additional power. An estimated three minutes of extra set-up a day is offset by an average 30 minutes saving in operating time. Plus the ultra low-vibration backpack design result in far less stress on the operator’s lower back and wrists and minimises exposure to workplace vibrations.
