Two More Edgers From Atom
A decade after manufacturing its first, groundbreaking edger (the 101 Domestic), Atom Industries has released two new models.
The Model 506 is Atom’s latest professional unit. It is powered by the new 35cc Honda min-4 engine that delivers 20% more power than the previous Honda 31cc model. Honda four strokes have become increasingly popular amongst councils and contractors due to their low exhaust emissions, lower fuel consumption, quieter operation and easier starting. The Model 506 incorporates Atom's anti-vibration system means there is less vibration passing through to the operator.
The “Domestic Deluxe” Model 550 is designed for domestic users and has a 25cc Honda mini-4 engine. It is very easy to start, making it suitable for the elderly and people with back problems. Deluxe features include its super-comfortable Bio-Rubber handle grips.
Atom Industries manufactures is multi-award-winning edger range at: 19 Fred Street, Lilyfield 2040 (PO Box 513, Rozelle 2039); (02) 9810 0194 F: (02) 9810 6691 E: sales@atomindustries.com.au.

Parklander Entry Level Rear-Engine Rider
Parklander Entry Level Rear-Engine Rider
Powered by a 12hp B&S cast-iron bore engine The Parklander has power to spare. Supplied with a 30” (76cm) mulch and mow deck, the unit has a, 84cm compact slimline body, which easily fits through standard garden gates.
The Parklander is comfortable and manoeuvrable. A lumbar support seat cradles the rider¹s back, to cut fatigue. With a 12” (30cm) turning radius and effortless Dual Response steering, the ride-on can easily work areas around trees and in confined areas. The offset deck, where the deck and wheel are aligned, allows easy close cutting near walls or fences.
The rugged transmission makes it easy to run the Parklander at the appropriate working speed. A single pedal allows the operator to select the most suitable of five speeds for conditions.
For operator safety, a combined clutch and brake foot pedal means that once the user depresses the brake, this disengages the drive mechanism and locks on as a park brake, when the unit is not in operation. As well, The Quick-Stall safety switch engages as soon as the rider leaves the seat with the blades engaged. The blades stop and the engine shuts off automatically. The Quick-Level System means that the user can level the deck easily, without tools, for a smooth even cut, every time.
The Parklander is also available with an optional catcher. Parklands Trading has more information at: 106 Belmore Road (PO Box 213) Riverwood 2210; (02) 9584 7700 F: (02) 9153 9122 E: management@parklands.net W: www.parklands.net.

Ariens Mini-Zoom
Allpower Industries has released the new Ariens Mini-Zoom 1434. The Mini-Zoom takes ZTR manoeuvrability and scales it down into a compact, lightweight package designed for domestic users. The Mini-Zoom has a 10.4kW (14hp) B&S Intek engine that gives operating speeds up to 10km/h - 6mph (5km/h -3mph reverse). The 86cm (34”) pressed-steel, 7-gauge two-spindle deck, Mini-Zoom has cut heights between 2.5-10cm (1-4”). ZTR manoeuvrability means users can enjoy fast mowing around obstacles like trees and flowerbeds. It is designed to tackle lawns 1/4acre - 1acre in size.
Other features include dampening springs and a pivoting front axle. The Mini-Zoom 1434 is built around a lightweight, single-piece pressed-steel chassis. Oregon “Fusion” Mower Blades
Oregon “Fusion” Mower Blades
Oregon Cutting Systems has introduced a new, advanced lawnmower blade called “Fusion”. The manufacture of these blades includes an exclusive electrofusion process that makes the cutting edges extra-hard and tough. The process does not add a layer to the blade, it alters the molecular structure of the steel and becomes an integral part of the blade along its cutting edge. Fusion blades are tempered to R50 hardness for excellent overall blade strength, and then receive the electrofusion process along their cutting edges. This Fusion process is patent pending.
In demanding field tests by commercial users, Oregon Fusion blades demonstrated twice the stay-sharp ability of standard blades. This equates to less frequent re-sharpening and a high cut quality throughout full working days on a single sharpening. Because Fusion’s superior toughness is not the product of a layer on the blade, but actually part of the blade at its molecular level, the benefits remain even after repeated resharpening.
Fusion™ blades are initially being offered to manufacturers as original equipment on selected commercial mowers. However, they should be available as replacement blades in the most popular sizes and types next summer. Oregon will expand its selection of Fusion blades in the near future.

Stihl MS 192T Arborist Saw
Stihl MS 192T Arborist Saw
Stihl’s new top-handle saw has been designed specifically for professional arborists and tree-loppers who require low weight (only 3kg) and very low vibrations. The MS 192T is particularly easy to use because of the halving of the saw’s gyroscopic forces because of the reduced rotating masses in the saw. Combined with its optimised rigidity and the shorter distance between the recommend 30-35cm (12-14”) guidebar and the handle it provided operators with excellent control.
The MS 192T has a 30cc genuine pro, 2-ring, piston-port engine (without reed valve) and microprocessor controlled ignition timing generating 1.3kW (1.75hp). Users will enjoy its simplified maintenance. Carby access requires only two nuts to be removed while, fule and oil caps, air filter cover and chain tensioning are tool-free. The saw has a 270ml Fuel tank and 220mL oil reserve.
Stihl has more information about this professional saw at: 2 Forbes Close, Scoresby 3179 (PO Box 74, Knoxfield MDA 3180); (03) 9215-6666 F: (03) 9763 4423 W: www.stihl.com.au.
